'Sirenity' Paul Clarke, 2011
This time I was meeting a true stranger. A stranger in a strange place. A male stranger. I was a bit nervous and called my husband and asked him to track my iPhone. You know, just in case.
Of course, all that worrying was for nothing! It became immediately apparent that Paul and I had loads in common, so I felt so very relaxed from the start.
We went under a bridge (was in London Bridge?) and started shooting. Paul was wonderfully direct in his instructions and I really enjoyed playing up for the camera. 'Look scared' he'd say, "Imagine you've come out of the river to this strange world" then asked me to pour a bottle of water on my head. I loved it!
There were, of course, hundreds of people passing by on foot, in cars and on buses, but I had my glasses off and couldn't see anyone of them! I'm sure they weren't even interested in me, after all, it is London where I'm sure you see bizarre things everyday.
I love the image Paul has chosen. It's so natural and fresh, which is strange because we spent a lot of time 'acting'. But this one is definitely the most striking and romantic I think.
